Exam Results

The exam results module covers bulk CSV import, PDF result reading, a shared editable preview screen, and saving final results.

Result Entry Methods

1. Bulk Import with CSV

Use the CSV flow when the institution already has result data in a template-friendly format.

Step 1: Download Template

  1. Open the exam detail page.
  2. Click "Download Template".
  3. Download the generated CSV template.

The template contains only the columns supported for that exam. Import never adds a new column that is not in the template.

Step 2: Fill the CSV

  1. Keep the student rows as they are.
  2. Fill in score, correct, incorrect, unanswered, and ranking fields when applicable.
  3. Save the CSV file.

Step 3: Shared Preview

  1. Upload the CSV file.
  2. The system parses it and opens the preview screen.
  3. Review and edit values if needed.
  4. Save after validation.

2. Read Results from PDF

When the institution has an exam report as a PDF, use "Read Results from PDF" for the same exam.

Flow

  1. The user uploads the PDF file.
  2. The system reads student results from the PDF.
  3. Perigma matches those results to the selected template structure.
  4. Results open in the shared preview screen.
  5. The user can correct anything before saving.

Matching Rules

  • If a PDF row contains a national ID, it is used first.
  • If a PDF row does not contain a national ID, matching falls back to full name.
  • Students present in the PDF but not in the template are ignored.
  • Students present in the template but missing from the PDF remain in preview with blank values.
  • No non-template column is added.
  • Results are only placed into fields that already exist in the selected template.

Errors and Warnings

  • If the uploaded file is unrelated to exam results, the user sees an explanatory error.
  • If required values are missing in the PDF, the system fills what it can and shows warnings for the missing parts.
  • If the PDF contains conflicting or uncertain values, the first reliable value is kept and the user can correct it in preview.
info

PDF reading is fast and practical in most cases. If the document layout is complex or some values are read incorrectly, review the preview screen before saving. If needed, continue with the CSV template flow instead.

3. Manual Entry

If you want to enter results one by one without uploading a file, use "Enter results manually".

Flow

  1. Click "Enter results manually" on the exam detail page.
  2. The shared preview screen opens with blank result fields for all students.
  3. Enter correct, incorrect, unanswered, score, and ranking values manually for each student as needed.
  4. Review and save.

Shared Preview Screen

CSV upload and PDF reading use the same preview screen.

On this screen:

  • Score fields can be edited.
  • Subject-level correct, incorrect, and unanswered values can be edited.
  • Province and national ranks can be edited for the relevant exam scopes.
  • The system recalculates nets and scores when appropriate.
  • Final saving happens only after user review.

This shared preview helps users review and correct results before import in both the PDF and CSV flows.

Result Analysis

After saving results:

  • Average, highest, and lowest scores can be reviewed.
  • Group performance comparisons can be made.
  • Subject-level weaknesses can be analyzed.

  • SMS notifications can be sent if enabled in institution settings.
info

For SMS notifications, the exam result SMS option must be enabled in institution settings.

  • Exam name and date
  • Their own score and net
  • Group or branch ranking based on visibility settings
